Road to Night of Champions 2011 III

O PPV Night of Champions tem uma história deveras confusa. O evento começou no ano de 2001 e era originalmente intitulado de Vengeance e surge como substituto do Armageddon que foi retirado da WWE devido a tragédia do 11 de Setembro. Esse show aconteceu no mês de Dezembro e o evento principal foi um torneio de quarto homem para unificar os WCW e WWF World Championships e onde foi coroado o primeiro Undisputed Champion....

Devido à brand extension em 2003, o show ficou exclusivo do Smackdown. Dois anos depois ficou exclusivo do Raw. Em 2007 com os PPV a serem partilhados por todas as brands, o evento tinha como segundo nome Night of Champions, uma designação que foi adquirida na totalidade no ano de 2008 e que hoje ainda mantém.

Este PPV tem sido um verdadeiro saltimbanco na agenda de PPV, pois ora já esteve após a Wrestlemania, como antecedeu o SummerSlam, como já esteve no fim do ano e agora apresenta-se no mês de Setembro.

O PPV de 2007 estará para sempre ligado à tragédia de Benoit pois foi o evento que Benoit havia falhado no fim-de-semana da sua morte e da sua família.
